A study carried out by the Manchester University has concluded that there is no connection between Islamic terrorism and the ghettos. Muslims social background and lifestyle have nothing to do with their taking to terrorism, the study indicated recently. It has taken up 75 cases of Muslims charged with terrorism under a study sponsored by the British government following the July 7 bombings there. It had been widely believed that the segregation of Muslims (the ghetto-like atmosphere they live in) contributed to people taking to terrorism. There were calls from the academic-intellectual circles that there should be more integration of Muslims into mainstream. The study, however, found that it was as likely that a Muslim living in predominantly non-Muslim area became a terrorist as a Muslim living in a high Muslim population area.

It is not something accessible only to the "Japanese mind," any more than Shakespeare can only be really grasped by the British. Likewise, the "wa" and "ga" distinction of Japanese can be mastered almost subconsciously by non-Japanese living in this country without recourse to the uniqueness of Japanese culture, history, or ways of thinking.
